Hampton's Home-buying Happenings

Everyone wants a place to call their own, that is TRULY their own.  I am no different.  After two years of renting, I have decided it is time to buy my first home.  I was a late bloomer, I lived at home with my parents until I was 24 when I got my first apartment.  I love the place I am in now, but I have out grown the space and have had enough of throwing money into a black hole at the beginning of each month.

Considering the state of the housing market and the current interest rates, it seems all signs are point to buying a home!

So I began the hunt.  I was referred to an amazing Realtor, Mikki.  Mikki is such a wonderful person, who has made this process much easier.  I have been pre-approved for an amount I am comfortable with and will buy me a very decent home. The best part is that with all things considered, I may be paying less a month in mortgage and insurance than I currently pay in rent.  My lease is up in a couple months, so I am eager to find a place, and one that is move in ready.

To date, I believe I have viewed about 10 houses in person, and possibly a hundred online.  I have  few houses in mind (see below), but have not settled on any one place yet.  One thing I love about Mikki is her patience and education.  She does an awesome job of telling me the things I need to know about a home and what to look at when I am captivated by the charm of a home, and not really looking at the structure.

On my MUST HAVE list are:

3 Bedroom (4 would be ideal)
2 Bathrooms
Finished basement
Nice Kitchen
Utility Room (laundry room)
Garage
Not too much yard
Central Air

On my REALLY WOULD LIKE

Space to entertain
Fireplace
Fenced yard
Patio/Deck
Attic Fan

On my NO WAY list

Wallpaper
Wood Paneling
HUGE yard

I will keep you updated on the process!
